Season 2 of " The Vampire Diaries DVD " expounds upon the world of Mystic Falls in which many weird, undead creatures live including vampires and werewolves. Episode 9 is entitled "Katerina" and was brand new on Nov. 11. When my daughter sat down to watch we knew in typical fashion this episode would ramp up the drama a notch. The CW airs its hit show at 8 p.m. ET every Thursday.

Katerina of course refers to Katherine. In this episode we flash back to Bulgaria in the 1490s. Katherine lives in peace with her family until she has a baby.

Elena (Nina Dobrev) is hiding a secret and Stefan (Paul Wesley) is mad about it. It's because she goes to Katherine in the tomb and The Vampire Diaries DVD Set to hear her family history. Back in the day Katherine saw her own family murdered, hence her vengeance about breaking the curse upon vampires.

When Klaus goes on a killing spree we learn why Katherine is so upset. What was hidden from Klaus is Katherine's illegitimate child, hence the possibility Elena and Katherine are related by blood and not just a doppelganger.

Klaus will get vengeance. Elena is doomed because Klaus wants her. That's why Trevor and Rose as well as some Originals are trying to trap her.

Katherine wants vengeance, pure and simple. Long and painful vengeance against those who murdered her family. The most important detail we discover revolves around why Elena is important to this story. Her blood, the The Vampire Diaries DVD boxset known doppelganger for now, must be used to break the curse. Oh, and Elena's best friends are needed too, to break the curse.According to Katherine, it takes another vampire, a witch, and werewolf to lift t he curse.

Meanwhile, Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) and Bonnie (Katerina Graham) seem to have eyes for only each other, but then someone else comes in on their date. His name is Luka and he instantly has a connection with Bonnie. As he sits at the table hitting on Jeremy's date, he makes some salt magically levitate. He explains he and his family are warlocks. Of course Jeremy gets jealous of Luka but what can he say? He and Bonnie aren't exactly exclusive.

Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is having his own doubts about Rose's story as she keeps trying to tell him about the Originals. Rose tells him in order to survive for a long time you have to suppress your emotions including love, a.k.a. she's trying to seduce Damon. It doesn't mean you have to not make out with a gorgeous vampire, though. Damon gets over his crush on Elena by sleeping with Rose.

Elena is having some trust issues because she's torn apart. She's in love with Stefan. She's worried about everyone breaking the curse, and everyone she cares about is in danger because of her. Is The Vampire Diaries seasons 1-2 dvd boxset possible she actually feels sorry for Katherine? This is all probably because they are likely related, which we already knew.

At the conclusion of the episode, we see the vampire Slater who seemingly helps Rose with his infinite knowledge. But hold the phone--Elijah got to him first. He compelled Slater to call Rose and says she needs to find the moonstone and a witch. This won't end well. Elijah compels Slater to kill himself, which is a sad ending for the new character.

Everyone knows its a trap except Rose. Perhaps Damon and Stefan will figure it out. Unfortunately, Luka's dad is in on it too, which means Luka is just getting ahold of Bonnie to go ahead with the evil plan whatever that turns out to be.

With more new characters we get even more questions. Eventually it will be sorted out.

The next new episode is entitled "Sacrifice" and will feature more of the ubiquitous Klaus we keep hearing about. The next new episode airs Dec. 2. Look for the upcoming marathon of "The Vampire Diaries DVD" episodes in mid-December as an early holiday present. Yes!
